From Greek legend, Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, lover and protector of wild places and wild creatures. She roams the woods with her beloved dogs, and she symbolizes the blissfully free spirit.
Artemis is associated with the crescent moon, and is sometimes called Phoebe (the “light one” or “bright one”). As the goddess of light, Artemis illuminates the darkness – our shadows (the parts of us ourselves that we would rather not see). Her courageous, joyful embracing of truth and freedom encourages us to explore our fears and discover our light within.
